Dr. Deborah Lee is an Orange County native and attended UCLA, where she graduated Cum Laude while majoring in Business Economics. After working as a financial analyst at a Big Four firm, she decided that her passion was actually in working with people and making them smile.
Dr. Lee decided to change careers and wound up back at UCLA, where she attended dental school and graduated on the Dean's list with honors from the Department of Orthodontics. During her time there, she was also awarded a scholarship to conduct research at UCLA's Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
She was accepted into one of the top orthodontics residencies, UCSF, where she trained for 3 years in Orthodontics while also obtaining a master’s in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences.
Dr. Lee has numerous research publications in several renowned scientific journals such as the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. She is also a board-certified orthodontist, an honor achieved by less than half of practicing orthodontists. This requires extensive additional training to successfully pass both a written and clinical exam, demonstrating her skills and competence as a practitioner.
When Dr. Lee isn’t caring for patients, she loves spending time with her husband, Daniel, and their daughters, Lanora and Leia. During her free time, she enjoys rocking out on the guitar, rock climbing, and appreciating architecture.

After practicing general dentistry for five years, Dr. Baum was given the opportunity to become a specialist in orthodontics.
He returned to his dental training roots and attended Indiana School of Dentistry to obtain his orthodontic specialty training and a Master of Science degree in dentistry. While attending orthodontic residency, Dr. Baum was awarded a Delta Dental grant for his research. Dr. Baum is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (Board Certified) which less than 50% of all practicing orthodontists have obtained.
When he’s not creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Baum loves spending time with his wife, Melissa, who is a dental hygienist, and their daughter, Payton. Dr. Baum enjoys playing in multiple softball leagues, sailing the seas, cheering for the Ducks, and exercising/CrossFit.

Our dedicated team loves to get to know our patients and nurture relationships that will last a lifetime. We also love using the latest dental technology to give you an unparalleled dental experience.
The Villa Park Smiles team is very excited to meet you. When you step through our doors we want you to feel like a VIP! Upon your arrival, please notify our front desk so we can begin your complimentary consultation.
After a brief office tour, we'll start by taking diagnostic records and performing a thorough clinical orthodontic examination.
Diagnostic records include digital study models of your teeth, panoramic and cephalogram images, and photos. Then, we'll explain your treatment recommendations and answer any questions you may have.
We want your treatment to be fun and enjoyable. We offer many amenities to make each visit feel like you’re visiting a close friend.
Our office is equipped with only the best and latest technology. By using these high-tech tools, we can ensure that our treatments are effective, comfortable, and efficient.
3D scanners make goopy impressions a thing of the past and take highly accurate digital scans of your teeth and jaw, giving us the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D on a computer screen. Not only that, but we offer 3D printing that allows us to make all our appliances in-house.
Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs)
Temporary Anchorage Devices are small titanium anchors used to help correct complex orthodontic problems and align the teeth with more precision and better comfort. TADs allow us to shorten the treatment timeline and achieve desired results better than traditional braces. TADs can also be used in addition to braces or as an alternative to headgear.
Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expanders
Miniscrew-assisted Rapid Palatal Expanders, also known as MARPE, are an effective non-surgical and non-extraction treatment approach for expanding the upper jaw. This gives the tongue more room to sit upwards and forwards in the mouth, making the airway larger. There are fewer side effects than a traditional expander. MARPE uses mini screws directly applied to the upper jaw instead of using the teeth as the anchors. This prevents unnecessary tooth movements and other dental side effects.
Pitts brackets, also known as self-ligating brackets, are state-of-the-art when it comes to orthodontic treatment. They allow us to use band-free braces, a superior technique that aligns teeth faster and makes treatment more comfortable!
At Villa Park Smiles, we recognize how fortunate we are to live in such an amazing community that supports us.
To show our appreciation, we love to give back to our community through various outreach programs, like donating our time and resources to local schools, girls and boy scouts, Villa Park Little League, and donating free orthodontic cases in support of Villa Park schools.
